Up In The Air
The book Up In The Air by Walter Kirn was a very interesting book from the beginning to the end. My favorite part was the beginning. The way the dialogue was laid out made it very hard to put the book down. The author did a good job of making the reader a part of the story by giving us an identity. Also, the narrator had a very interesting story going on and the character seemed to be all over the place and it made the story fun and exciting. It was interesting to think about real life people who spend most of their time and lives inside of airports and in the air on the plane. The narrator made the character seem almost depressed to me because the poor guy gave up his apartment by simply not paying the rent and left all of his belongings there. The narrator also made his character seem like family was not high on his list of priorities because the only relationships he cared to have were when he was on the plane. Maybe this is because he had commitment issues and knew that the people on the plane were only going to stay the length of the flight and then continue on with their lives. I can imagine being on the plane thinking to myself wow this guy really needs to be quiet and keep things to himself. Now that I have read this book I think the next time that I am in that situation I might engage into more conversations with the passengers I sit next to because you never know how lonely they really may be.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your response to Up in the Air! I thought it was interesting that you enjoyed the author's writing style. I found it to be very confusing and all over the place. It just shows that everyone is different! Thank you.
