Now lets analyze the movie. An analysis is more depth and opinion behind the movie. The reason behind the warden wanting Paul to start up the team is because the warden wanted a warm up gave before his team started their season and by beating up the prisoners he thinks he will attain that goal. Paul did not want anything to do with it at first because he just wanted to serve his time, stay under the radar and then go home once his time is up. The warden threatens to blackmail him and add twenty years to his sentence. So Paul decides to make flyers and holds tryouts to get the best team possible. Paul rounded up a great team, but they were missing speed. He then goes to the black group of men. This is when Paul had to prove himself by playing a rough basketball game versus one of the black men. Paul was punched, elbowed, and choked but he never gave up. This interested his opponent and told Paul he could not wait to see what Paul could do in a contact sport if he could take a beating like that. Soon after that, his whole group of guys wanted to be a part of Paul’s football team. This improved the team so much that when they played the guards they beat them with strength, agility, and sheer power.

SUMMARY VS ANALYSIS
Explaining the difference between a summary and analysis, it is best put like this. Lets take the summary point first and discuss the movie The Longest Yard. The movie is set in a prison somewhere in the Texas desert. One man named Paul Cruise was a famous professional quarterback that was banned from the league for shaving points in a game. While he was locked up the warden proposed that Paul start a football team with the convicts to play versus the guards. At first Paul is hesitant but he decides to go through with it anyways. Some of the other prisoners did not trust Paul and did not want anything to do with the football team. That was until Paul challenged one of the high ranked prisoners to a game of basketball and if Paul won the black prisoner played for the team, but if he lost then he would leave them alone about the football team. During the game Paul took a lot of dirty fouls, but he stuck with it. Paul ended up losing the game but his determination to stay in the game and fight through the fouls, one of the black guys decided to play football anyway then more guys started joining the team. Once it came time to play the guards, the prisoners were unstoppable. This is a summary of the movie.

Football movie, not for me. Your analysis and summary, its great. Good job. You nearly make me want to go rent the movie. Thank you for the good post.
ReplyDeleteGood Job on the summary and analysis. I learned a few things.
ReplyDeleteI have watched both of the American versions of this film and I have also seen the UK remake "Mean Machine".
All 3 are different movies and people might give different summaries of them. The analysis of the film could very well be the same. Yes, they are different movies but the undertones are the same. They all have triumph.
